Videos

I’ve made a playlist of videos for survivors. I’m regularly adding to this list. If there’s any topics you would like me to cover, then feel free to email me (address at bottom of page) and ask.

Part 1: An introduction to the series, and a brief telling of my story
Part 2 looks at definitions of the different types of abuse including emotional, physical and sexual abuse.
Part 3 looks at the impact of trauma on our voice, power, and relationships.
Part 4 looks at PTSD.
Part 5 starts to answer the question of whether we should talk to someone about our abuse.
In part 6 I share what my therapy looked like, and share some things to look for in a therapist.
In part 7 I talk about self care and hobbies that heal.

In this video I start to look at how to find a therapist: We look at different modalities & belief systems, & the importance of the therapeutic relationship and accreditation.

In this video we looks at the terms ‘therapist, counsellor, psychotherapist, psychologist & psychiatrist; the importance of ethical frameworks, & governing bodies such as the BACP, NCPS, UKCP, ACC.
In this video I share some practical steps to find a good therapist for your trauma. In this video we look at how to find potential therapists, and what questions you should ask them before you commit to therapy with them.
In this video I share why I started training to become a counsellor.
In this video we look at how self-care enables us to be available to help others better.
We develop some amazing protective strategies to cope with trauma in our life. In some ways these strategies are like bivouacs that provide protection but don’t give us a very nice view. In this short video I demonstrate how a lot of beauty can be enjoyed when we step out of our bivouacs. BTW I recorded this video a very long time ago. I have quite a backlog of videos to upload here!
In this video I interview Dr Diane Langberg on her book about abuse in the Christian Church.
In this video I talk with my co-facilitator and fellow counsellor Catherine Standing about the support groups we run.
